Submission Guide

How to Submit Writing

This guide explains how students create an account, submit original writing, complete parent approval, and move through the editorial review process before publication.

Create an Account

Start by creating a student account. A parent may also create a parent account and add one or more children under the parent profile.

  • Use a valid email address.
  • Select student or parent account type.
  • Complete the basic profile information.

Sign In to My Account

After creating an account, return through My Account to access the student dashboard, submit writing, review status, or manage editorial/admin workflow access.

Upload and Submit Writing

Choose the category and writing type, add the title, and paste or write the body in the submission editor.

  • Categories may include Story, Culture & Heritage, and Education & Dreams. Story may include migration, community, fiction, personal reflection, or other story-based writing.
  • Writing may include essays, articles, stories, poems, reflections, interviews, artwork, or creative work as the journal expands.
  • The current testing workflow stores submissions in browser localStorage until backend integration.

Parent Approval / Authorization

For student submissions, parent or guardian approval is required before editorial review. The student can attach signed approval or request an approval link to be sent to a parent email.

Editorial Review

Once parent approval is complete, the writing moves to editorial review. Editors may suggest edits, request revision, decline, or approve the work for publication.

  • The review process supports quality, no use of AI, clarity, originality, respect, and responsible publication.
  • Students may receive comments and submit revisions.
  • Approved pieces can move to publication after the required editorial approvals.

Publication

Published writing appears on the Publications page and can be linked to a full article page. The latest approved writings can also be displayed on the homepage.
